Apply to Coach

Thank you for applying to coach with Lacrosse PEI.  As a coach, you would be part of the LPEI team whose goal is to provide the best possible experience for our players. If you are new to coaching and would prefer to start out with assistant coaching, that's great too. We will provide you with support and information to get you started.

There are three requirements for being a coach with LPEI

1. Coaches Clinic
a. All coaches must complete the Coaches Training that we provide. If you have taken it with us in other years, it is not necessary to repeat it; however you are welcome to join us for a "refresher". Pre-registration is required for the clinic. Reserve your seat by emailing coach.lacrossepei@gmail.com .

b. As part of this training, coaches will need to complete the Making Headway online concussion training.

 2.  Coaches Application Form
Once we create our 2023 application form, anyone wishing to coach our athletes will need to forward a completed coaching application to Dorothy Dewar at coach.lacrossepei@gmail.com, or in person to any LPEI Board Member. We will be looking for coaches for all our Box and Field Lacrosse teams.  *Anyone who coached with us last year and submitted a form then, is not required to fill out another one.

3. Criminal Record Check (ages 18+)
As part of Lacrosse PEI's dedication and commitment to our players, we require all coaches, assistant coaches, managers and trainers (those who have direct contact with our players) to provide a valid and current Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sectors). This applies to everyone who is 18 years of age or older. For anyone who completed their CRC last year with us, you do not need to renew it this year.

*Important things to note with regards to Criminal Record Checks:

Summerside, Charlottetown and Kensington residents would go to your City Police detachment.
Otherwise you can go to your nearest RCMP detachment. (locations in Souris, Montague, Alberton, Maypoint Plaza (for Stratford, Cornwall, and areas surrounding the Charlottetown area).

It takes one full week to process a criminal record check, so please take that into account when you are planning to get it done. The offices are generally open 8am-4pm Monday to Friday.

Rules for getting your CRC done:
  • You must present yourself in person
  • You must have two pieces of Government ID. One of these pieces needs to have both your photo and your address.
  • No student ID's are accepted
  • You must bring the Criminal Record Check Request Letter (contact coach.lacrossepei@gmail.com or info.lacrossepei@gmail.com for your letter)
  • **if you are going to the City Police Station you should photocopy your pieces of ID prior to going to the station, they need a copy but will not photocopy there.
Criminal Record Checks must be delivered in person to Lacrosse PEI Board Members. We cannot accept scanned submissions.

Contact info.lacrossepei@gmail.com if you have any questions.
