What is contained in Lacrosse PEI Concussion Information?
Player safety is the number one priority for Lacrosse PEI. As a result, LPEI has carried out some research on information regarding concussions to ensure that all those involved with LPEI are following best practices in the event of a suspected injury (concussion). Our information is developed by Parachute, a national Canadian charity founded in 2012, that promotes researched, evidence-based and expert-advised resources and tools that can help to prevent serious harm or death from preventable injuries. It has a dedicated Parachute Concussion Expert Committee that has developed clinical guidelines and education materials for parents, coaches and players.
1) Canadian Guideline on Concussion in Sport. This is a 54 page document that was developed by an advisory committee of experts on concussions.

It aims to ensure that athletes with a suspected concussion receive timely and appropriate care, and proper management to allow them to return to their sport. This guideline may not address every possible clinical scenario that can occur but is intended as a general overview that includes critical elements based on the latest evidence and current expert consensus.
2) Concussion Recognition Tool 5 (CRT5): This is a tool for coaches to help identify concussion in children, adolescents and adults.
3) Lacrosse PEI Concussion Pathway: Outlines the pathway to follow as a Lacrosse PEI coach, parent when there is a suspected head injury.
